EXTRACT OF CASSAVA
Extract of cassava is a three-dimensional, sugar-based biopolymer taken from the tubers of cassava shrubs. Cassava is a shrub native to South America. It belongs to the splurge family and can grow to a height of 5 meters. Long before Columbus arrived in America, the indigenous peoples included manioc tubers in their diet. Cassava thrives best on sandy or sandy/loamy ground, so the soil typically found in the tropics is ideal. In periods of drought, the plant discards its leaves, but these grow again quickly after rainfall. The exact origin of the cassava shrub is uncertain. The oldest archaeological find, discovered in Mexico, is estimated to date back roughly 2800 years.
